FIDE World Junior Chess Championship for the Disabled

The FIDE World Junior Chess Championship for the Disabled is an event only for disabled chess players who are under 20 years old as of June 22, 2017. Each relevant chess association (IBCA, IPCA, ICCD) regulates the conditions of their participation.

Overview

We are delighted to announce the organization of the 1st World Junior Chess Championship for the Disabled.

This championship will be held in Orlando, Florida, USA from June 22-29, 2017. This is the official invitation to all eligible participants, as approved by the FIDE Commission “Chess for the Disabled” (DIS). The FIDE World Junior Chess Championship for the Disabled is an event only for disabled chess players who are under 20 years old as of June 22, 2017. Each relevant chess association (IBCA, IPCA, ICCD) regulates the conditions of their participation. The FIDE World Junior Chess Championship for the Disabled is held as an individual open tournament.

Chess Tournaments and Programs

 

March 12, 2017; 12:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.

Location: 141 East 28th Street New York, NY 10016. Located on 28th Street, between 3rd Avenue and Lexington. (Upper School Campus Gym)

Open to ALL SCHOOLS Grades K – 8th AND Challengers and Championship Sections for ALL Chess Players Grades K-12Parent supervision is required.

Awards:

  • Trophies for Top 10 players in each Section, with medals to all other participants!
  • *Team Trophy for Top Three Schools in each Section. * To qualify as a ‘school team’ for any given section; a school must have a minimum of 2 players for that section. There must be a minimum of 2 schools competing in a section to earn the prize for that section. Top 3 individual scores in a section count towards the school team’s score for that section.

Tournament Format: Swiss System. All Sections are Rated. Sections may be combined.

Novice, Intermediate and Advanced levels welcome! Open to all schools and students Ages 5 – 18. Advanced registration is required.

Overview

We are delighted to welcome chess players to play in the Chess Educators International Open Tournament. This is a weekend event open to all chessplayers.
FIDE RULES APPLIED —Ratings: FIDE June List. USCF June rating supplement. USCF Rules apply and section placement is based on USCF rating— conversion for foreign players. USCF membership required.

Tournament Format

This competition will be played as a 5 rounds Swiss tournament.

Sections: All sections are USCF and FIDE rated.

There are 5 sections in this event:

  • Open, Under 2100
  • Under 1900
  • Under 1700
  • Under 1500

Time Control:

90 min/40 moves + 30 minutes for the rest of the game with a 10 second delay starting on move 1. Default time at the beginning of all rounds will be 30 minutes.
