The After-School Chess Program at PS 6

January 31, 2024 – June 26, 2024. Enrollment now open.

There are more sessions in the Spring 2024 calendar!

Chess & Education has a long standing chess tradition at PS6 – since 1992!

Our chess program uses an interactive and hands-on approach for students to learn chess. Students participate in fun and engaging activities that allow them to learn and improve with the game of chess using fun and effective strategies.

The program is open to grades K-5. Each class has a Student/Coach ratio of 1:16 or better! All classes have 1 coach and 1 assistant.

The program tuition includes a friendly chess tournament and an award ceremony at the conclusion of the semester. Space is limited, enroll in advance.

Novice, Intermediate and Advanced Levels

Chess classes take place in school classrooms, with students assigned to groups based on their chess experience. Getting to know the children is especially important for the placement process. Careful thought and consideration goes into these decisions to ensure that all students get the most out of their chess education. Each semester concludes with a ‘Chessplayer Awards Day’.
